At times, it can make our mind wander to the point where we forget what body part we’re working on — or even that we’re practicing yoga. Yoga has its roots in both ancient philosophy and religion, making it a far more complex practice.

What does yoga want us to realize?

Yoga is an art, science, and philosophy. The practice of yoga is not just limited to physical exercise; it involves self-discipline and dedication to a way of life. It develops patience, flexibility, and strength. Yoga is more than exercise; it involves our mind, body, and soul in an interrelated and synergistic movements and integration.

The aim of yoga is to realize the true self and attain liberation from suffering. If you do yoga with an open and positive attitude, you will reap great benefits. You will feel a sense of relaxation and spiritual feeling that time to time you have in your life untold.

Yoga aims at realizing purushartha or the four goals in life: dharma (righteousness), artha (wealth), kama (pleasure) and moksha (liberation). Yoga gives immense importance to love, compassion, tolerance, contentment, and self-control. It helps us gain control over our thoughts and emotions.

Yoga focuses on the mind first before concentrating on body postures. Through meditation, we can cleanse our minds of negative thoughts and emotions which cause stress and anxiety in life.

Why people use yoga practice?

Yoga is a practice people use all over the world to achieve mental clarity, spiritual peace, and physical strength. There are those individuals who practice yoga for relaxation purposes. Trying to find inner peace in ourselves is a difficult task. Yoga can help us do that.

We all have our own personal beliefs, and we all have our own individual goals in life. Whether it be to lose weight or make money, we all have something that keeps us striving for perfection. Sometimes we forget about what we need to do in order to achieve our goals. The key is to not forget about yourself and why you started your journey in the first place.

Yoga is something that I truly believe in. Since I started practicing yoga I have been able to help more people than I ever thought possible. Yoga isn’t just a physical routine. It’s a spiritual journey as well. It’s a journey that has helped me grow as an individual and has allowed me to learn more about myself than I ever imagined possible.


Yoga encourages you to be on the same page as everyone else around you, without distractions or thoughts of hatred or anything like that: just peace, tranquility, and camaraderie with others around you.

Yoga is a huge part of my life. It is something that I have been practicing for the last few years and I am still learning new things about it everyday. Yoga is about more than just health and wellness or even fitness, it’s about being aware of your self and having the ability to control your mind and body.


Causes of pain in body

Tension and stress are the main causes of pain in our bodies. Therefore, it’s important to be able to control these feelings in order to prevent pain from occurring. Yoga practice has taught practitioners different ways on how to release these feelings.

By controlling my breath I am able to relax my body in stressful situations. As well as learning different positions in yoga that help relieve tension and stress from the muscles throughout the body. Yoga has given me a great way to de-stress and relax my body, mind and soul.


Purpose of Yoga

The purpose of yoga is to help you achieve a certain level of mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Yogic techniques are intended to free the individual from fear, anxiety, and other negative emotions. Yoga also helps you cultivate compassion for yourself and others and assists you in reaching a level of stillness that is conducive to attaining Enlightenment.

Indeed, yoga is a series of exercises designed to help you gain conscious control over your body, breath, mind and spirit. Yet, it’s also possible to practice yoga without embracing its spiritual side.

However, many teachers report that their students who have developed a strong connection with the divine through their practice experience the most benefits from their efforts. If you decide to incorporate spirituality into your practice, know that there are many ways to do so.

There are four paths of yoga: bhakti yoga (the path of devotion), jnana yoga (the path of wisdom), karma yoga (the path of selfless service) and raja yoga (the path of meditation). Bhakti and jnana yoga involve worshiping God while karma yoga emphasizes selfless service. Raja yoga is the most commonly practiced type.

What does the yoga tradition claim regarding the world and worldly matters?

The Yoga tradition is a practical one. Albeit, it has place for philosophy through constant and regular practice of the same nd when life’s philosophy is at stake. The tradition views the world and worldly matters as an illusion and that one should not get attached to it. Therefore, the yoga tradition does not claim anything about the world or worldly matters.

The Yoga tradition focuses on the goal of Moksha—liberation from the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. It believes that human life is meant for attaining liberation (Moksha) from worldly sufferings and sorrows.

According to the Yoga tradition, there are two types of suffering: natural (Dukha) and spiritual (Samsara). Natural suffering occurs due to the inherent limitations of material existence; disease, old age, death, and so on.

These sufferings are inevitable for any sentient being in material existence. Spiritual suffering occurs due to ignorance of our true nature as spirit souls.

This can be overcome by transcending material existence through performing spiritual activities like meditation, chanting God’s name to purify our consciousness, among others.

Yoga tradition claims that the world and worldly matters are illusionary.

The Bhagavad Gita has a chapter named “Vibhuti Yoga” in which Lord Krishna talks about His divine powers, opulences, some of them in this world and some outside of this world.

Lord Krishna says there are 8 Prakritis (elements) which are the material cause of this universe:

1] Earth

2] Water

3] Fire

4] Air (Sky)

5] Ether (Space)

6] Mind

7] Intellect

8] Ego

What is the relevance of yoga to one’s ultimate aims?

Practicing Yoga can help you connect to your highest self, therefore, helping you move towards your ultimate aims. Trying to achieve your ultimate goal is like trying to climb a mountain without using your legs. It’s very difficult. While constantly working on your physical body, it also encourages personal development that leads to reaching one’s ultimate aims.

You can do all the same things, but with greater ease and clarity of thought and purpose if you are practicing yoga. Without maybe the latter, it is difficult for people to achieve their perceived ultimate objectives because they are always caught up in their desires, cravings, and attachments that are associated with material objects.

Harmony with environment

Yoga is the practice of living in harmony with the environment. It is a way of life that includes following certain dietary restrictions, performing specific physical postures, and focusing on breathing techniques. Yoga teaches its students to respect their minds and bodies.

It encourages students to take time for themselves by focusing on their inner feelings instead of on the materialistic world outside of them. In order to master yoga, one must live a pure life and have a positive attitude towards others. This will lead them to reach enlightenment and ultimately attain nirvana.

How do you apply the principles of yoga during this pandemic times?

Many people who have taken up yoga during this pandemic times are not really aware of the fact that they are actually following the same principles of Yoga that has been practiced for ages.

There are so many traditional and contemporary ways of practicing yoga, but what it all boils down to is that yoga heals the body as a whole and makes one feel better in general. You will have less anxiety and stress, better sleep, and improved chronic illness symptoms.

When you face a problem or a difficult situation, you first need to establish the truth. Remember that each moment is different from the next – and the next. There is no absolute truth. We create our own truths by how we perceive things. So when you face a problem or a difficult situation, ask yourself if there is another way to look at it or interpret it?


The principles of yoga manifest also itself though physical movements. In yoga discipline, these are called yoga postures. This will help an individual attain optimal health, physically and, concomitantly, mental well-being.

Thus, when you are doing yoga, you will notice that there are so many incredible benefits of doing so:

  • You will be stronger
  • You will be more flexible
  • Your blood circulation will improve
  • Your energy levels will increase
  • Your organs will benefit from this exercise (the heart included)
  • You will feel more relaxed and less stressed out…just like you want to be during these pandemic times!

Yoga is not only a means of developing physical fitness but also a way to develop our mental faculties. Yoga is not an exercise program or a series of physical postures such as the ones we see in gyms or on athletes during competitions.

The physical postures are just one of the many tools that yoga offers us. Yoga teaches us how to use our mind to manage the stress we experience in our daily lives, and through meditation and concentration it helps us to find lasting peace of mind.

Yoga teaches us how to calm down the agitated mind, how to control anger and jealousy, how to eliminate negative thoughts like hatred, prejudice, greed, etc., and replace them with positive thoughts like love and compassion towards everyone.

Through yoga we learn how to live together in harmony with everyone around us: our family members, our friends, our neighbors, etc., even with those people we don’t consider “friends” like co-workers and others whom we may not even know personally but who happen to be members of our social circle or community. Yoga tells us that it is possible for all of us to live together harmoniously.
